Main Responsibilities

  • Primarily working with the Maritime, Trade and Offshore team to offer support as needed.
  • Working with other sub-teams within the Hong Kong and other SH finance teams if needed.
  • Performing legal and factual research tasks.
  • Completing company searches and other basic due diligence tasks.
  • Drafting corporate authorities, legal opinions and conditions precedent documentation as well as managing/assisting with managing condition precedent documentation and closing procedures.
  • Drafting simple loan and security documents for bilateral/commoditised transactions.
  • Undertaking searches and filing security interests at the Hong Kong Companies Registry – completion of forms and filing process.
  • Monitoring receipt of and indexing, collating and preparing hardcopy original documents and transaction bibles as required.
  • Preparing reports and basic notes of advice (including company search reports).
  • Transaction Management – including corresponding with other teams working on the transaction, the client, counterparties and third parties to progress transaction.
  • Working with other transactional teams on an ad-hoc basis as part of paralegal services.

Attributes/Skills Required

  • Fluent in English and Putonghua – both spoken and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • First degree in law from a common law jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in finance work would be an advantage.
